Inequality, segregation, and the overrepresentation of African Americans in school suspensions
Article Abstract:
The relationship between school segregation and the overrepresentation of African American students among those suspended was examined using school, district and country data from the state of Florida Department of Education and the U.S. Census. Results from a multilevel analysis indicated that higher levels of school segregation corresponded with lower levels of African suspension imbalance and provided support for the resegregation hypothesis.

Internal ethnicity: Iranians in Los Angeles
Article Abstract:
A case study of Iranians in Los Angeles was conducted to analyze the influence of internal ethnicity on new immigrants. Results showed a relationship between pre- and post-immigrant ethnicity among the different Iranian subgroups. The subgroups who belonged to ethnic minorities of Iran were more ethnic than those who came from the majority of the population. Thus, the Jews and Armenians were more ethnic than Muslims and Bahais.
