Hispanic subgroup differences in prenatal care
Article Abstract:
Prenatal care and birth outcomes among Hispanic subgroups are observed to determine differences in the use of infant care. The subgroups referred to include Cuban Americans, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans and Central/South American. An analysis of Kotelchuk's Adequacy of Prenatal Care Utilization Index and the 1986 and 1987 national Linked Birth/Infant Death files shows that Puerto Ricans and Cuban Americans are more likely to acquire the necessary prenatal care as opposed to the other subgroups.
