Social work in community development: a cross-national comparison
Article Abstract:
The approaches for urban policy development in the US and UK characterize a similar trend. Historically, social services have shifted to bricks-and-mortar projects and again back to social services. This trend has led to the adoption of a mixed model for community development in the US. Such a model targets both the physical and human development needs of the local neighborhood. Furthermore, contemporary social work education aims to use this model and recognize the problems in the communities.
