Job seach, social networks, and local labor-market dynamics; the case of paid household work in San Diego, California

Article Abstract:

A study of the job-search techniques and labor market dynamics among immigrant Mexican household workers in the San Diego area is discussed. The absence of regulation of the domestic labor market increased worker dependence on informal networks and strengthened the labor market's gender and ethnic hierarchies.

The concept of "State rescaling" with respect to Tehran is mentioned. Since Tehran's recent political map is marked by a central state conflict between the institutionalized theocratic system and a newly emerging liberal-democratic system, this study holds utmost importance for Tehran, Iran.

The new politics of citizenship: Structuring participation by household, work and identity

Article Abstract:

A cluster analysis is used to scrutinize the political and economic restructuring processes. The restructuring process can be best understood in terms of the interaction between household resources, work conditions, and identity.
