The psychology of perpetual patients
Article Abstract:
Employees who get injured in work-related accidents sometimes take much longer than anticipated to recover and sometimes complain of chronic pain. Statistics reveal that in a work force of 1,400 people, consistently four to eight difficult cases of vague medical complaints develop. Employers who want to address the issues connected to injured employees need to understand the psychological components connected to injury and recovery which may be connected to excessive recovery time. Sometimes workers use their injuries to manipulate others because of personality disorders which are characterized by specific patterns of behaviors. Some of the personalities to watch out for include histrionic personalities, narcissistic personalities, and antisocial personalities.
