Measuring the productivity of materials management
Article Abstract:
Materials management productivity should be carefully measured when analyzing overall company productivity. Although many factors which effect purchasing management, such as government regulations, energy costs and inflation are not within the control of the company, a small improvement in productivity by all companies would have a marked effect on the nation's standard of living.

Substantial growth
Article Abstract:
Foreign direct investment increased by 26% in Sri Lanka during the first six months of 1998 to $85 mil in spite of a long and costly war in the norhtern part of the country, according to Thilan Wigesinghe of Sri Lanka's Board of Investment. This is an increase of 51% over 1997. Sri Lanka is considered to be the second-fastest growing economy in Asia after China.

CBS Returns to Fold

CBS Video Enterprises is back in the music video business. It will be bringing CBS recording artists to video music. The company plans to produce at least five long-form music videos in 1984. Distribution is expected to be handled by CBS-Fox Video.
