Performance of visually impaired heavy-vehicle operators
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted in California to find out whether visually impaired commercial drivers are engaged in more traffic accidents or penalized more often than commercial drivers meeting the federal visual static acuity standard. Results show a conditional proof that heavy-vehicle commercial drivers with visual impairment are likely to meet more traffic accidents and convictions than their nonimpaired counterparts. However, the evidence does not sufficiently support the federal standard given the absence of good data on possible exposure differences.

Locus of control and auditory selective attention as predictors of driving accident involvement: a comparative longitudinal investigation
Article Abstract:
Locus of control, measured by the Montag Driving Internality and Driving Externally scales and auditory selective attention, measured by the Auditory Selective Attention Testwas evaluated as predictors of driving accidents with 214 volunteers using a predictive and postdictive study design. Results showed that selective attention was a better predictor of driving accident involvement than locus of control.
