Porche gears up for faster parts distribution
Article Abstract:
Porche Cars North America Inc.'s adoption of Logility's WarehousePRO as its warehouse management system (WMS) has enabled it to enhance its customer and dealer service. The new WMS has enabled Porche to considerably improve its orderpicking accuracy and has also enabled Porche to allocate allocate personnel for other tasks. The WMS has enabled the company to ship special parts to the customer in the same day and has led to a reduction in back orders. Porch has provided real-time parts availability to its dealers and has also cut its shipping mistakes. The new WMS has enabled Porche to reduce its lost sales as a result of back-orders.

Impact monitor reduces lift truck damage
Article Abstract:
Media Recovery Inc.'s Shockswitch impact monitor trims down damages in lift trucks and other materials handling equipment. Shockswitch units can be configured to set off an alarm and record the time, date and lift number. A Value City Furniture distribution facility found that using Shockswitch led to a 39% decrease in the cost of damages. Dave Johnson, maintenance and training supervisor for Schottenstein's Value City Furniture unit, stated that the firm used Shockswitch in program that was based upon safety concerns.

The Electric Motor Narrow Aisle truck model has ergonomic features for a more comfortable and less-fatiguing operator movement. The new model, equipped with electronic and speed sensitive steering, is designed for narrow aisle applications and multicontrol operations.
