Bean feast
Article Abstract:
The UK coffee market was worth 737 million pounds sterling in 1996, with coffee consumption up 2.3%, according to the 1997 Nestle Hot Beverages Report. The out of home sector is the most buoyant, with sales rising sharply and coffee being the most popular drink in the sector with a 27% share. The growth of fashionable coffee houses has encouraged the trend, with the number of meals out that include coffee rising by 33% in cafes and coffee shops during the year to May 1997. Some 88% of all coffee sales are accounted for by instant coffee.

Imagining the postwar small town: gender and the politics of landscape in 'It's a Wonderful Life'
Article Abstract:
George Bailey's struggles in Frank Capra's film 'It's a Wonderful Life' can be seen as an exercise in shaping small-town landscape. If George follows his impulse to abandon his battle with the evil Potter, Bedford Falls will turn into the sleazy Pottersville, but if he does not give in, the town becomes an idealized version of masculine dominance and female enclosure.
