Role clarity and job satisfaction in purchasing
Article Abstract:
Professional purchasing employees surveyed had a high, if informal, grasp of their role and rated themselves high in satisfaction with their jobs. Job satisfaction might be improved with increased opportunities for utilization of experience and for advancement. Role clarity was directly related to fewer employees in the department. Very small or very large numbers of products purchased were related to high role clarity.

The purchasing-manufacturing interface in the make-or-buy decision
Article Abstract:
A make-or-buy decision involves the process whereby a company decides whether a part should be purchased outside the firm or whether it can be more economically manufactured internally. Such a decision-making process is analyzed here, illustrating the role of both the purchasing and manufacturing departments. The case study also analyzes overall corporate policy as it will relate to a make-or-buy decision.

Occupational stress among purchasing managers
Article Abstract:
In the pursuit of their duties, purchasing managers come into contact with many stressful situations. They must successfully interact with their own organizations and with outside organizations and people as well. Ways to cut down on the stress is for the manager to conduct effective interpersonal relationships, identify with his organization and to remain flexible.
