Second-generation tin-frees advance
Article Abstract:
The number of shipbuilders considering the use of second-generation tin-free antifouling polymers has been increasing, as members search for alternative and more efficient coatings. These type of antifoulings are actually tributyl tin-based self polishing copolymers that offer superior antifouling efficiency since they prevent the formation of leached layers. Compared to conventional products, second-generation antifoulings have lower biocide release rates and thus, are more environment-friendly.

Chinese puzzle
Article Abstract:
China's shipbuilding industry is moving with steady but slow growth, although it has the capability to top the industry globally. China's decision to grow slowly is seen as a logical move, considering that the country is still limited in terms of infrastructure and building methods. The country, which currently ranks third in the international shipbuilding business, enjoys price advantage over other nations and is seen to maintain a healthy ship repair business environment.
