A German academy

Article Abstract:

Modern Germany, which has no national scientific academy along the Royal Society in London or the US National Academies, is seeking to build a credible national academy from scratch, which would be a tough challenge. The national academy, as per its unofficial proposal, is expected to comprise a 200-strong council, appointed by the regional academies and generate advice for the government through ad-hoc working groups with appropriate external advice.

It is suggested that Japan should use scientific collaboration to improve relations with its neighbors including China and South Korea that would not only fuel the development of sectors in biotechnology or computer software but also fuel future economic growth.

Ontario: Messages from MaRS

Article Abstract:

The development of the Medical and Related Sciences (MaRS) Discovery District is an effort to establish Toronto as one of the world's leading bioparks, and to foster the commercialization of science. The strength of the MaRS Discovery District would be its ability to gather researchers, big companies, and venture capital and offer researchers the chance to turn ideas into products and partnerships.
