Afghanistan's Shangri-La: far from the guns and bombs lies the Wakhan
Article Abstract:
The Wildlife Conservation Society's (WCS) Afghanistan Biodiversity Conservation Project includes training the locals of Afghanistan's Wakhan to become field guides and trail cooks for ecotourists. WCS was also invited by the USAID to be the international wildlife organization to have a full-time presence in the country. The operation's mission includes carrying out wildlife surveys with the help of the locals.
