Article Abstract:

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich has demonstrated the hazards of implementing major reforms at universities with outstanding reputations. Ernst Hafen, president of ETH, was forced to resign in November 2006 due to his comments on the aptitude of women and his restructuring ideas, which were not appreciated by other university professors.

Bert Bolin (1925-2008)

Bert Bolin was the first chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, who boldly explained the impact of the carbon dioxide produced by human activities on the environment. He was a famous scientist and has acted as a leader of several scientific organizations.
