Bazooka recruits Inscuteable to orient asymmetric cell divisions in Drosophila neuroblasts

Article Abstract:

The apical localization of Inscuteable in Drosophila requires Bazooka, a protein with a PDZ domain. Bazooka localizes with Inscuteable in neuroblasts, binding to the Inscuteable localization domain. Direct biding to Bazooka is thought to mediate the asymmetric localization of Inscuteable.

Polo inhibits progenitor self-renewal and regulates Numb asymmetry by phosphorylating Pon

Article Abstract:

The article describes a biochemical link between the cell cycle and the asymmetric protein localization machinery and indicates that Polo can inhibit progenitor self-renewal by regulation of localization and function of Numb.
