Cattle grazing impacts on annual forbs and vegetation composition of mesic grasslands in California

Article Abstract:

Research on California grasslands indicates that cattle grazing may be a useful tool in the conservation of annual native forbs. Since grazing can produce different effects on vegetation dynamics, however, land management must include a variety of disturbance regimes to preserve plant community composition.

Effects of Cattle Grazing on Diversity in Ephemeral Wetlands

Article Abstract:

Research on California Central Valley ecosystems demonstrates that ranching and livestock operations may bolster rather than diminish native plant communities. Data are drawn from studies conducted on dry-season grazed, wet-season grazed, continuously grazed, and ungrazed wetlands.
