Giant lateral electrostriction in ferroelectric liquid-crystalline elastomers

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of ultrathin ferroelectric liquid crystalline elastomers to achieve an electroclinic effect. The possible use of this process in nanomachines for medical use is discussed.
