Massively parallel sequencing

Article Abstract:

A highly parallel sequencing system is developed that can read 25 million bases of genetic code, the entire genome of some fungi, within four hours, providing an alternative approach to DNA sequencing. The complexity of the system lies primarily in the sample preparation and in the microfabricated, massively parallel platform that contains 1.6 million picolitre-sized reactors in a 6.4-cm(super 2) slide.

APOBEC3 inhibits mouse mammary tumour virus replication in vivo

Article Abstract:

The in vivo and in vitro assays are used to examine whether APOBEC3 (A3) proteins inhibited infection by mouse mammary tumour virus (MMTV). The results have shown that A3 mice are susceptible to MMTV infection because virus spread is more extensive than in their wild-type littermates.

The genome of Cryptosporidium hominis

Article Abstract:

The eight-chromosome of the genome of C. hominis is described. The complement of C. hominis protein-coding genes show a striking concordance with the requirements imposed by the environmental niches the parasite inhabits.
