ADA one year later

Article Abstract:

Interior design and architectural firms welcomed the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) because of the new challenges and commissions it would bring. ADA provisions require all public accommodations including theaters, restaurants and malls to be accessible to disabled individuals. The same provisions applied to new constructions and remodelling work in office buildings, warehouses and factories. It may be helpful for design clients to prepare an ADA compliance plan to clarify the elements and features which fall under the regulations.
