Jeffrey Beers brings his brand of conceptual design to a childrenswear showroom

Article Abstract:

The Little Me/Ralph Lauren showroom at the Little Me Hard Shop, Sam Schwab's high-end childrens' apparel, was designed by Jeffrey Beers. It was a first for Beers, who had until then, confined his design talents to restaurants and residences. The resulting showroom is a series of four meeting spaces differentiated by custom display fixtures. These are curved, a shape inspired by toy train tracks, and at the back of each picture are grids which can hold graphics or photos. The showroom, seen by other garment executives, has won Beers 12 hard shop contracts.

Restaurant

Article Abstract:

The cornerstones on which the music label Motown Records is based are the same elements that mark the design of Motown Cafe in New York. Style, movement and sound are abundant in the cafe's design, such as a revolving 45 rpm record on the ceiling, life-sized statues of stars, the video screen at the Roostertail Lounge and the disc jockey's booth on the mezzanine. Haverson Architecture picked the early 1960s as its reference in terms of color and style among the many eras and styles in the record company's 37-year history.

Visitor Center: as designed by Cochran, Stephenson & Donkervoet, the Naval Academy's waterfront visitor center is a modern salute to the historic institution

Article Abstract:

Baltimore-based Cochran, Stephenson & Donkervoet (CS&D) designed the US Naval Academy Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center to accommodate its 1.5 million yearly visitors and to coincide with the Academy's 150th anniversary. The water-theme is evidenced by the building's waterfront exterior and nautical-inspired interior. The new center consists of four spaces: a retail facility, a lobby, an exhibition area and a food service facility.
