A proposed health model: a step before model confirmation
Article Abstract:
A model is proposed combining the well-accepted health belief model and theory of planned behavior model, to attempt to explain and predict health-related decisions of individuals. The health belief model holds that an individual, before taking action in health related matters, must feel vulnerable to a condition, believe the action to be taken is feasible, and undergo some stimulus to take the action. The theory of planned behavior, an extension of the theory of reasoned action, sees behavior intention as the primary predictive indicator of behavior. A theoretical framework for the proposed health behavior model is presented. The model includes utilization of a structural approach that will permit latent variables to be measured.
