Revlon/UCLA Breast Center

Article Abstract:

A sense of intimacy and comfort pervades the University of California Los Angeles Breast Center, which has been renamed the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center after a grant from the cosmetics company allowed its renovation. The atmosphere of reassurance is aimed at addressing the physical and emotional needs of physicians as well as patients. Such aura is evident in the use of pastel colors and materials such as wood, glass, plaster and plastic laminate. The drop ceiling, covered benches and specially angled soffit in the conference/consultation room all add to the warmth the center exudes.

DAS capital: modern luxury in the first European Grand Hyatt

Article Abstract:

The first Grand Hyatt Hotel in Europe stands proudly as a red sandstone edifice at the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Germany. Designed by Spanish architect Jose Rafael Moneo, its interior design deftly blends form and function. Wood, marble and cinnabar-red stucco were used in its public spaces and 346 guest rooms. Natural light is brought by inverted etched-glass pyramids into the central atrium, which serves as a link to the hotel's three ground floor restaurants and the second-floor ballroom and seven conference rooms.
