Roots

Article Abstract:

The Pallas Textiles division of contract furniture manufacturer Krueger Inc has developed a collection of fabrics based on ramie. VP Linda Thompson believes that ramie is suited to the contract furniture market because of its absorbent quality, durability and its design potential. The fiber is used for the manufacture of fishing lines and nets and is also believed to have been used for wrapping Egyptian mummies. Pallas has developed Climatex, a ramie, wool and polyester blend specifically for upholstery textileyarns.
