All change on the UK's favourite bus

Article Abstract:

The interior of the popular Routemaster bus used in London, UK, has been redesigned as part of a 10 million pound sterling overhaul package. The redesign, which took just weeks to complete, is aimed at extending the life of the 487 Routemasters that remain by 10 years. A new fluorescent strip lighting system that will double the light level in the Routemaster is the one factor of the redesign which is likely to evoke the greatest criticism.

Exciting and exhilarating but in need of change: a judge's-eye view of the SND contest

Article Abstract:

A judge at the Society of Newspaper Design's (SND) annual competition gives his views on the contest. Together with 19 colleagues, he spent three days judging the best newspaper designs in the world, an activity he found both exhilarating and exciting. However, he criticises the SND for its lack of a bronze award and also calls for a pre-judging system and the need to attract more small newspapers to the contest.
