The CORD Network Conference on 'A Moving Community: Dance in the Contexts of Culture and Power in Greater Washington, D.C.' held in Oct 1992 was an attempt to understand the way dance creates communities by focussing on the greater Washington, D.C. area. Dancers, ethnologists and administrators discussed how dance affects community in terms of being a vehicle for cultural values and a tool for social outreach programs. Dance also becomes a locus of government-society interaction in issues like censorship where the government decides what a community may watch.

Transcending boundaries: Dance and Technology III: research and teaching strategies for the twenty first century
Article Abstract:
New applications of technology in dance were discussed in the Dance and Technology conference held in Toronto, Ontario in May 1995. The sessions focused on virtual environment, education, video, performance documentation, stage technology. One session featured a dance performance using virtual reality as a created stage, while another discussed the way computers enhanced dance education. Workshops were also held on developing software for dance research.

Green Mill Dance Project: is technology the future for dance?
