Article Abstract:

Hutni zavody Bridlicna (HZB) (Bridlicna, Czech Republic), aluminium firm, has bought production assets from Kovohute Bridlicna (KB) (Bridlicna, Czech Republic). The newly set up firm HZB, which should supply its production to car, food-products and tobacco companies, expects a net profit of more than 460 mil Kc under proceeds of over 5.4 bil Kc in 2003. KB decreased the proceeds from the sales of its products to 3.8 bil Kc in 1998 compared to 4.382 bil Kc in 1997. The firm's net profit declined by 63% to 21 mil Kc during the same period. Reasons for the drop were the Russian crisis, a drop in domestic demand and a fire at the firm's rolling mill, which stopped production for several months in 1998. For the means obtained by the sale of assets done in June 1999, KB wants to redeem all its released bonds, credits and payables and to purchase shares from minority shareholders. Then, the firm will go into liquidation.
