No taste, no smell - but deadly: testing for radon: lending institutions seek peace of mind

Article Abstract:

Lawsuits arising from the contamination of homes by hazardous radon gas are warnings for preventative action. Geological data indicate the presence of radon in the soil of 37 states, Federal and state regulations do not require testing or decontamination, however. Lending institutions can independently require a radon test before approving a mortgage loan. Radon concentrations can be reduced to a safe level without a fall in the market value of a home.
