A mechanism for the exclusion of low-fidelity human Y-family DNA polymerase from base excision repair
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to prove that Pol(sub lota), Pol(sub eta) and Pol(sub kappa) can each form a schiff base with 5' -deoxyribose (5'-dRP) residue containing DNA. However these enzyme-DNA complexes are not intermediates of a 5'-dRP lyase reaction, as 5'-dRP lyase activity was not found in purified Polh, Poli and Polk that were fully active in the DNA synthesis reaction.

Yeast DNA polymerase eta utilizes an induced-fit mechanism of nucleotide incorporation
Article Abstract:
A pre-steady-state kinetics of yeast DNA polymerase-eta reveals that it adopts an induced-fit mechanism for the incorporation of correct and incorrect nucleotides. Data indicate that yeast polymerase-eta does not rigorously discriminate between nucleotide forms, leading to its replication through distorting DNA lesions.

Human DNA polymerase kappa uses template-primer misalignment as a novel means for extending mispaired termini and for generating single-base deletions
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on human DNA polymerase. The authors demonstrate that this polymerase is adept at using template-primer misalignment for extention of mispaired termini and for generation of single-base delitions.
