The enhanceosome and transcriptional synergy

Article Abstract:

Several spatial and temporal patterns characterized the development of complex eukaryotes. These patterns can be compared with the transition between a bacteriophage's lysogenic and lytic states. Moreover, the synergy associated with complex eukaryotes are manifested by a gene's nonlinear or sigmoidal response to activator concentration increases, and by the transcriptional effect of multiple activator-binding sites on a promote or enhancer.

An RNA thermometer

Article Abstract:

Heat shock proteins can act as thermosensors by observing the way they accumulate or direct RNA polymerase. The gene rpoH mRNA is one of the most useful, sensitive means to examine changes in temperature at the genetic level. Other RNA thermometers, including IcrF mRNA, Salmonella typhimurium TlpA and Drosophila HSF, are also sensitive to temperature.
