Actin homolog MreB and RNA polymerase interact and are both required for chromosome segregation in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

Evidence is presented that inactivation of MreB inhibits chromosome segregation in Escherichia coli. The striking similarity of the chromosome distribution patterns of MreB-depleted cells and of cells with an inactivated RNA polymerase (RNAP) raises the possibility that the interaction between MreB and RNAP plays an important role in chromosome segregation.

Hda-mediated inactivation of the DnaA protein and dnaA gene autoregulation act in concert to ensure homeostatic maintenance of the Escherichia coli chromosome

Article Abstract:

The contribution of regulatory inactivation of DnaA (RIDA) is evaluated to the strict once-per-cell initiation of replication rule by altering the cellular level of homologous to DnaA. The results showed that RIDA and dnaA gene autoregulation act in concert to maintain timely initiation in wild-type cells.

MreB actin-mediated segregation of a specific region of a bacterial chromosome

Article Abstract:

The potential role of the actin-like MreB protein in bacterial chromosome segregation is investigated. The MreB is demonstrated as the direct target of the small molecule A22.
