S-layer gene sbsC of Bacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 12980: molecular characterization and heterologous espression in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the cell surface of Bacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 12980. Sequence identities and structure-function relationship of S-layer proteins in B.stearothermophilus wild-type strains have been investigated.

ISBst12, a novel type of insertion-sequence element causing loss of S-layer-gene expression in Bacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 12980

Article Abstract:

An insertion sequence element that disrupts the S-layer of Bacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 12980 is described. ISBst12 is believed to code for a 482 amino acid transposase with a molecular mass of 55,562 Da.

Analysis of the structure-function relationship of the S-layer protein SbsC of Bacillus stearothermophilus ATCCC 12980 by producing truncated forms

Article Abstract:

The structure-function relationship of the Bacillus stearothermophilus ATCCC 12980 S-layer protein SbsC has been analyzed by producing truncated forms. Using three self-assembling C-terminal truncations, it was shown that the C-terminal 219 aa can be deleted without interfering with self-assembly.
