Business ethics, pure and simple

Article Abstract:

Financial services professionals seeking to ensure ethical practice must remember both regulatory requirements and the importance of serving the client's needs. Four factors are critical: the client's ability to understand, the proposed solution's complexity, the client's risk tolerance, and the availabiliity to the client of objective professional advisers. The American Society's May 1995 video teleconference can help financial service providers determine an approach that is neither too simple nor too complex.

Bacillus thuringiensis and its pesticidal crystal proteins

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the extensive progress in determining the gene expression, structure and mechanism of action for the pesticidal bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis. A proposed revised nomenclature was used throughout the study to accommodate the wealth of new sequence data. Results demonstrate the importance of designing a resistance management strategy that may have to address the use of both transgenic crops and B. thuringiensis.
