Isolation of adherent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-degrading bacteria using PAH-sorbing carriers

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-utilizing bacteria. The isolation of these bacteria from PAH-contaminated soil is discussed.

Occurrence and phylogenetic diversity of Sphingomonas strains in soils contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Article Abstract:

The phylogenetic diversity and occurrence of the indigenous Sphingomonas strains in the different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons- (PAH) contaminated soils were investigated using the PCR- denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) method. The newly developed Sphingomonas-specific primers based PCR-DGGE method can be successfully utilized for analyzing the Sphingomonas strains from polluted soils at the species level and helps in detecting different Sphingomonas members, which were not detected by other techniques.
