Genetic diversity of Chilean and Brazilian Alstroemeria species assessed by AFLP analysis

Article Abstract:

Genetic diversity of Chilean and Brazilian Alstroemeria species has been studied using A fragment-length polymorphism (AFLP), a novel PCR-based marker technique analysis. Genetic distances, based of AFLP markers, showed the contribution of the parents to the hybrid genome. Alstroemeria species, an interspecific hybrid and Bomarea salsilla and Leontochir ovallei were evaluated. Three primer combinations brought 716 markers.

Chromosomal regions involved in hybrid performance and heterosis: their AFLP(R)-based identification and practical use in prediction models

Article Abstract:

A novel approach to prediction of hybrid performance and heterosis is put forward. Chromosomal regions involved in hybrid performance and heterosis have been studied with AFLP(R)-based identification. Practical use in prediction models is considered. Heterosis is the main source of the success of commercial maize or corn.

Genetic structure of a population sample of apomictic dandelions

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on dandelion population in Northern Europe which consists of polyploid and triploid apomicts. The hypothesis that without regular sexual cycle or lateral gene transmission these populations could have clonal structure has been tested, and the results are discussed.
