Physical mapping of rDNA genes, (TTAGGG)(sub.n) telomeric sequence and other karyological features in two earthworms of the family Lumbricidae (Annelida: Oligochaeta)

Article Abstract:

In two earthworms of the family Lumbricidae (Annelida: Oligochaeta), physical mapping of rDNA genes, (TTAGGG)(sub.n) telomeric sequence and other karyological features has been undertaken. The two species had different nuclear DNA contents, but had quite similar based composition in genomes.

Evolution of transcript structure and base composition of rDNA expansion segment D3 in ticks

Article Abstract:

Evolution of transcript structure and base composition of rDNA expansion segment D3 has been studied in ticks. Selective constraint is suggested by biased substitution, the distribution of sequence differences, and conservation of transcript conformation in D3.

(TTAGGG)(sub.n) telomeric sequence in selachian chromosomes

Article Abstract:

A study of (TTAGGG)(sub.n) telomeric sequence in selachian chromosomes has confirmed that the karyotype evolution of Chondrichthian species began by Robertsonian fusion. It was carried out to assay telomeric repeats in the genome of a cartilaginous fish and the first in examined literature to to use in situ hybridization for chromosomic localization of these sequences in selachians. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) of metaphase chromsomes was used.
