Cloning and expression of clt genes encoding milk-clotting proteases from Myxococcus xanthus 422

Article Abstract:

The screening of a gene library of the milk-clotting strain Myxococcus xanthus 422 constructed in Escherichia coli that allowed the description of eight positive clones containing 26 open reading frames is discussed. Three of them (cltA, cltB, cltC) were found to be encoded proteins that exhibited intracellular milk-clotting ability in Escherichia coli, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia pastoris expression systems.

Heterologous expression of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae PGU1 gene in Schizosaccharomyces pombe yields an enzyme with more desirable properties for the food industry

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that the recombinant endopolygalacturonase, generated from heterologously expressing PGU1 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in Schizosaccharomyces pombe, efficiently reduces the polygalacturonic acid viscosity thereby creating desirable conditions for the production of foods. Furthermore, the recombinant enzyme is more pH and temperature stable.

Rapid detection of Campylobacter coli, C. jejuni, and Salmonella enterica on poultry carcasses by using PCR-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on food-borne pathogens. The authors describe the use of multiplex PCR primer set and probes developed on the basis of Campylobacter coli, C. jejuni and Salmonella enterica genes, which encode lipoproteins involved in siderophore transport, to screen poultry carcasses for the food-borne pathogens.
