Compartmentalized transcription and the establishment of cell type during sporulation in Bacillus subtilis

Article Abstract:

Localization of ribonucleic acid (RNA) polymerase sigma factors in Bacillus subtilis spores leads to the establishment of a mother cell and a forespore, each with developmental fates. Localization of sigma (superscript F) and sigma (superscript G) to the forespore leads to its genetic expression. In the mother cell, sigma (superscript F) and sigma (superscript G) regulates sigma (superscript E) procesing, leading to generation of pro-o (superscript K) responsible for genetic expression.

Mating-type locus homozygosis, phenotypic switching and mating: a unique sequence of dependencies in Candida albicans

Article Abstract:

In this article dependence of switching on homozygosis at the mating type locus (MTL) and dependency of mating on switching in clinical strains of Candida albicans are discussed in relation to pathogenesis. Research shows that although majority of C. albicans strains are heterozygous at the MTL, they undergo homozygosis at MTL, undergo white-opaque switch before mating.

Breaking the silence: Three bHLH proteins direct cell-fate decisions during stomatal development

Article Abstract:

The article investigates the genetic functions of the three helix-loop-helix (bHLH) protein genes SPEECHLESS, MUTE and FAMA in Arabidopsis. These regulators are important for stomatal development.
