Coupling immunomagnetic separation on magnetic beads with matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry for detection of Staphylococcal enterotoxin B

Article Abstract:

A method is developed based on selective immunoaffinity capture enrichment that can be performed in a single-tube experiment for selective isolation of the protein toxin. The application of this method to complex biological matrices is shown by selective detection of Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) seen in different matrices like the cultivation media of Staphylococcus aureus and raw milk samples.

Detection of norovirus capsid protein in authentic standards and in stool extracts by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization and nanospray mass spectrometry

Article Abstract:

The detection of norovirus capsid protein is explored using three common mass spectrometry (MS)-based methods that are scanning of intact proteins, peptide mass fingerprinting, and peptide sequencing. This is the first report on MS-based detection of norovirus, accomplished by using structurally identical, noninfective virus-like particles at clinically relevant concentrations.
