Coverage and power in genomewide association studies

Article Abstract:

Estimates of coverage based on standard linkage-disequilibrium measures, such as the average maximum squared correlation coefficient (r(super 2)), can lead to inaccurate and inflated estimates of the power of genomewide association studies. But, use of the 'cumulative r(super 2) adjusted power' measure presented here gives more-accurate estimates of power for genomewide association studies.

Genome-wide association study identifies genes for biomarkers of cardiovascular disease: Serum urate and dyslipidemia

Article Abstract:

A genome-wide association analysis for commonly measured serum and urine biochemical traits are reported. It is found to provide a potential biological mechanism for its association of same allele of same single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) with increased risk of coronary disease.

Polymorphic variation in human meiotic recombination

Article Abstract:

The variations in human meiotic recombination phenotype are analyzed. The results have shown that there are polymorphic differences among individuals in the activity of the recombination, which might have greater implications for understanding genetic disorders.
