Biofilm formation by Bacillus cereus is influenced by PlcR, a pleiotropic regulator

Article Abstract:

A study investigated the role of PlcR in biofilm formation by Bacillus cereus strain ATCC 14579 on polystyrene, which is promoted by low-nutrient conditions and is related to the production of a biosurfactant. PlcR, a pleiotropic regulator, is activated by a small diffusible peptide acting as a quorum-sensing effector, controlling the expression of a variety of genes.

Characterization of biofilm formation by clinically relevant serotypes of group A Streptococci

Article Abstract:

The basic parameters of Streptococcus pyogenes in vitro biofilm formation is analyzed using Streptococcus epidermidis as a biofilm-positive control and it is shown that group A Streptococcus (GAS) forms monospecies biofilms in vitro. The methods and results reveals that standardized analyses of GAS biofilms and their impact on GAS pathogeneicity are now feasible.
