Optimization of differential display of prokaryotic mRNA: application to pure culture and soil microcosms

Article Abstract:

Differential mRNA transcription from both pure-culture and soil-derived bacterial RNA was detected by optimizing the differential display technique in eukaryotic gene discovery. Once optimized, a todC1C2 gene fragment from Pseudomonas putida F1 RNA was detected by using an arbitrary primer for the reverse transcriptase step in conjunction with the same arbitrary primer. To validate the results, an arbitrary primer was used to detect recovery a new salicylate-inducible naphthalene dioxygenase in Burkholderia cepacia JS150.

The AauR-AauS two-component system regulates uptake and metabolism of acidic amino acids in Pseudomonas putida

Article Abstract:

A [sigma.sup.54] dependent two-component system, the AauR-AauS that controls the uptake and metabolism of acidic amino acids in Pseudomonas putida was identified. The results confirmed that the aau system is a major regulator of acidic amino acid uptake and utilization.

Rhodopseudomonas palustris regulons detected by cross-species analysis of alphaproteobacterial genomes

Article Abstract:

A cross-species analysis of transcription regulation in Rhodopseudomonas palustris is described. 4,963 putative transcription factor binding sites, upstream of 2,044 genes and operons are identified using cross-species Gibbs sampling.
