Crystallographic analysis of anti-p24 (HIV-1) monoclonal antibody cross-reactivity and polyspecifity

Article Abstract:

The binding reaction between a p24 monoclonal antibody and its epitope peptide as well as that for p24 antibody combinations with three cross-reactive peptides, an epitope homolog and two unrelated peptides, is investigated using X-ray crystallography. The epitope binding region of the monoclonal antibody cross reacted with the other peptides but these peptides utilized other residues as anchoring sites. There are small readjustments observed with the complexation of the antibody with the cross-reactive peptides.
