Cytogenetic mechanism and genetic consequences of thelytoky in the wasp Trichogramma cacoeciae

Article Abstract:

The cytogenetic mechanism of thelytoky in Trichogramma cacoeciae and the consequences for its genetic diversity is described. It is concluded that diploidy in T.cacoeciae is maintained through an apomictic cloning mechanism and that the incidence of thelytoky under genetic control of the wasp differs entirely from the mechanism induced by Wolbachia infection where thelytoky is restored through gamete duplication.

Mating system and gene flow in the red seaweed Gracilaria gracilis: effect of haploid-diploid life history and intertidal rocky shore landscape on fine-scale genetic structure

Article Abstract:

The intertidal landscape and the impact of haploid-diploid on a fine-scale genetic structurerin red seaweed Gracilaria gracilis are discussed. Genetic differentiation among haploids was more than twice that of diploids showing that there may be a lag between migration and local breeding due to the long generation time in Gracilaria gracilis.

The relationship between the effects of UV light and thermal shock on gametes and the viability of early developmental stages in a marine teleost fish, the sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.)

Article Abstract:

The article explores the effects of sperm diluent, ultraviolet radiation and thermal shock on gametes. Survival of sea bass embryos in early developmental stages in relation to ploidy and the results of artificial fertilization are discussed.
