GAGA mediates the enhancer blocking activity of the "eve" promoter in the Drosophila embryo

Article Abstract:

Genetic research in promoter competition and insulator DNA suggests Trithorax-like-GAGA leads to more stable enhancer-promoter interactions by forming an open chromatin configuration. Drosophila embryos were used to examine even-skipped promoters with insulator activity that can be uncoupled from core elements that mediate competition. TATA has proven essential to promoter competition, while GAGA mediates enhancer blocking.

A tDNA establishes cohesion of a neighboring silent chromatin domain

Article Abstract:

A study to show that silent chromatin domain is necessary but not sufficient for cohesion of the replicating locus is presented. Results show that a tRNA (tDNA) gene that delimits the silent chromatin domain is also required, as the subunits of the complexes that bind the gene.

The protein encoded by the proto-oncogene DEK changes the topology of chromatin and reduces the efficiency of DNA replication in a chromatin-specific manner

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the chromatin structure. Results indicate that the protein that has been encoded by proto-oncogene DEK induces alterations of the DNA density in chromatin.
