Genetic consequences of many generations of hybridization between divergent copepod populations

Article Abstract:

Replicate hybrid populations were initiated with first generation backcross hybrids between two genetically distinct populations from California such as Royal Palms (RP) and San Diego (SD). Computer simulations showed that selection must be invoked to explain the shift in allele frequencies, thus suggesting that hybrid inferiority in early generations gave way to hybrid superiority in later generations.

European mink-polecat hybridization events: Hazards from natural process?

Article Abstract:

A genetic investigation of sympatric polecat and endangered European mink populations is reported. The results suggest that the hybridization events may be attributable to the scarcity of mating partners resulting from severe bottleneck in European mink populations.

Comparison of the Tyrosine Aminotransferase cDNA and Genomic DNA Sequences of Normal Mink and Mink Affected with Tyrosinemia Type II

Article Abstract:

Research shows that unlike in humans, Type II tyrosinemia is not associated with tyrosine aminotransferase gene mutations in mink. It is posited that Type II tyrosinemia in mink may be caused by an unlinked gene regulatory mutation.
