Identification and distinct regulation of yeast TATA box-containing genes

Article Abstract:

Approximately 20% of yeast genes that contain a TATA box are associated with response to stress, are highly regulated, and preferentially utilized saga rather than TFID when compared to TATA-less promoters. Transcriptional regulation in yeast appears to be mechanistically bipolar that possibly reflects the need to balance inducible stress-related responses with constitutive housekeeping functions.

Pheromone-dependent destruction of the Tec1 transcription factor is required for MAP kinase signaling specificity in yeast

Article Abstract:

Studies were conducted to show that pheromone signaling induces Fus3-dependent degradation of Tec1, and degradation needs Fus3 kinase activity as well as phosphorylates in vitro. It was confirmed that pheromone-dependent destruction of the Tec1 transcription factor is needed for MAP kinase signaling specificity in yeast.

Nuclear retention of unspliced mRNAs in yeast is mediated by perinuclear MIp1

Article Abstract:

It is important to prevent intron-containing transcripts from being translated in the cytoplasm. Transcription, splicing, and nuclear export of mRNAs are closely interrelated processes that share common molecular machinery. MIP1 is not required for splicing but becomes essential in absence of the Prp18.
