Identification of novel Cryptosporidium genotypes from avian hosts

Article Abstract:

The prevalence and host range of Cryptosporidium species and genotypes among caged, domesticated and wild birds are examined. The sequence and phylogenetic analysis has identified four genetically distinct genotypes I to IV, from various avian hosts, along with Cryptosporidium muris and Cryptosporidium andersoni in a tawny frogmouth and a quail-crested wood partridge, respectively.

Evaluation of Cryptosporidium parvum genotyping techniques

Article Abstract:

Cryptosporidium parvum genotyping technique evaluation is discussed. Eight genotyping, two species-differentiating, and one species-differentiating and -genotyping protocols for detecting and differentiation the parasites have been compared. For analysis of environmental samples, more evaluations with other apicomplexan parasites and Cryptosporidium species may be needed.
