Involvement of histone H1.2 in apoptosis induced by DNA double-strand breaks

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that transmission of the apoptotic signals from the nucleus to the mitochondria following DNA damage is mediated by the cytochrome c-releasing factor histone H1.2. Data indicate that the apoptotic signals release apoptogenic factors into the cytoplasm, which activate cell destruction process. Histone H1.2 is released to cytoplasm following X-ray irradiation.

Transport of proteins and RNAs in and out of the nucleus

Article Abstract:

This review presents molecular mechanisms of the macromolecular transport across the nuclear membrane. Experimental approaches and findings in areas of import and export assays in eukaryotic cells, in vivo transport studies in frog oocytes, and advances in yeast genetics are discussed in relation to nucleocytoplasmic transport.

A JNK-dependent pathway is required for TNFalpha-induced apoptosis

Article Abstract:

Results reveal that the caspase 8 cleavage and cell death, mediated by tumor necrosis factor receptor 1, involves a sequential pathway consisting of JNK, Bid, and Smac/DIABLO. Data indicate that the JNK pathway relieves TRAF2-clAP1 inhibition on caspase 8 activation and induction of apoptosis. .
