Mapping of a QTL for serum HDL cholesterol in the rabbit using AFLP technology

Article Abstract:

Research describing amplified fragment length polymorphism techniques is presented. In particular quantitative trait loci mapping in the rabbit is investigated.

Linkage of the gene for uncoupling protein to esterase-1,2 and haptoglobin in the rat

Article Abstract:

Crosses designed to identify linkage of genes in Rattus norvegicus (rat) were carried out to investigate the segregation behavior of the biochemical markers for two esterases, an uncoupling protein (Ucp) and haptoglobin. Results indicate that the gene for the esterases and the uncoupling protein are linked and are located on chromosome 19. The gene for the Ucp is likewise linked to the haptoglobin gene (hp) indicating that hp is also located on chromosome 19. These results lend support to three linkage homologies.

Mapping of rabbit microsatellite markers using chromosome-specific libraries

Article Abstract:

The authors describe the development of rabbit microsatellite markers from chromosomes 3-,5-,6-,7-, 12- and 19-specific libraries. They report that the linkage analysis they have performed with the new markers can help to verify libraries' specificity and to determine the position of linkage groups on the chromosomes.
