Mass spectrometry-based strategy for direct detection and quantification of some mycotoxins produced by Stachybotrys and Aspergillus spp. in indoor environments

Article Abstract:

The use of mass spectrometry for demonstrating the presence of mycotoxins predominantly produced by Aspergillus spp. and Stachybotrys spp. in buildings with either ongoing dampness or a history of water damage is discussed. Results suggest that the highly toxic sterigmatocystin and macrocyclic trichothecene mycotoxins detected in indoor environments is hazardous for health.

Simultaneous measurement of denitrification and nitrogen fixation using isotope pairing with membrane inlet mass spectroscopy analysis

Article Abstract:

Researchers estimated denitrification and nitrogen fixation rates in sediments from a Texas sea grass bed using an isotope-pairing technique and a membrane inlet mass spectrometer. Denitrification rates were an average of 20 microgram-atoms of N per square meter per hour, and nitrogen fixation rates were an average of 60 microgram-atoms of N per square meter per hour.

Comparing denitrification estimates for a texas estuary by using acetylene inhibition and membrane inlet mass spectrometry

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that acetylene inhibition method in the presence of chloramphenicol measures denitrification in a cost-effective manner and comparable to the findings by the membrane inlet mass spectrometry.
